How do I get an online false eyelash shop in Los Angeles, CA licensed and registered?

Lulu wrote: “I want to open a store for eyelash extensions. I am trying to find out what type of license I will need because I am going to start a small business where I sell lip gloss, eyelashes, etc.”

Hi Lulu, Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes is off to a smart start by getting the paperwork right first. Lashes are a quick confidence boost people buy again and again, and pretty packaging plus try-on videos can turn a small brand into a social media favorite. Since your goals are to protect your personal assets, limit exposure from sales, clients, employees, or debt and raise capital or sell shares, the LLC sits at the center of this plan. Here is what we will cover: how to structure Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes, the tax IDs it needs, and the licenses that let you open in Los Angeles, then a quick recap.

Selling lip gloss and mink strip lashes needs less licensing than applying lash extensions, which takes a cosmetology or esthetician license, so keep your business to products: a California seller's permit, a business tax registration for Los Angeles, and an EIN. Lip gloss counts as a cosmetic, so label ingredients clearly and avoid health claims. Because lashes and gloss touch eyes and lips, one allergic reaction could become a claim, which is what an LLC and product liability insurance are for. With raising capital and credibility on your wish list, a brand-name check and an operating agreement will help. Glossy tubes in a photo shoot do the marketing.

What Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes needs

  1. LLC (limited liability company) – Forming an LLC puts a legal wall between the business and your personal assets. A batch of mislabeled 'latex-free' adhesive that triggers an allergy is a product liability matter for the LLC, not for your household. Once profits grow, an LLC can elect S corporation tax treatment, which can lower self-employment tax; ask a tax adviser when the numbers justify it. If you plan to sell shares to investors, a corporation may fit better later, and an LLC can convert when that day comes.
  2. California fictitious business name statement – Most banks will not open an account or deposit checks made out to "Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes" until the name is registered to you, either as a DBA or as the exact name of your LLC.
  3. EIN (federal tax ID number) – Think of the EIN as a Social Security number for the business: banks, suppliers, and clients who send you tax forms will all ask for it.
  4. California seller's permit – Register before the first sale. If online orders from another state grow large, that state may expect you to register there too, since each state sets its own sales threshold.
  5. Business license – Most places require a local business license to operate, including home-based businesses. Check the rules where Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes will operate in Los Angeles, and ask about home occupation and zoning rules if you work from home. Home occupation rules commonly cap client visits and delivery trucks on a residential street, so read them before you print business cards.

By the numbers: Banks, insurers, and tax forms will ask for your industry code. For an online false eyelash shop it is NAICS 446120 (Cosmetics, Beauty Supplies, and Perfume Stores), 456120 under the 2022 update. That makes 5 items on your list.

Tip: If you ever start applying extensions yourself, check your state's cosmetology or esthetics rules first, because that service usually needs a license.

To recap: Lulu Lashes Mink Strip Eyelashes in Los Angeles, CA needs an LLC, a DBA, an EIN, a sales tax permit, and a business license. Check them off one by one and you will open with confidence.

I want to open a store for eyelashes extensions Hi I'm trying to find out what type of license I'm going to need because I'm going to start a small business where I sell lip gloss, eyelashes etc

A: Hi lulu, here is where you get your license for mink strip eyelashes business. You don't need a special license for that except for the regular business registration licenses. That said, forming an LLC is your best bet and cheapest insurance to avoid personal liability.

Registering as an LLC will automatically also register your business name "lulu lashes". Especially as a mink strip eyelashes business, you need to form an LLC because you are liable to lawsuits if you provide your services close to others. Think what is going to happen if you injure someone's eyes.

To start a business in CA for Mink strip eyelashes business, first get your LLC certificate and the LLC operating agreement.

Then, get an EIN and a business license. Since you have Mink strip eyelashes in CA, you need a sales tax ID also called a seller's permit because you can use it to buy the eyelashes materials, merchandise, equipment and food wholesale.

LLC

I need advice on business insurance, finding investors, a website and advertising for my record label. Does the LLC service include the state fee and an operating agreement?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

For a record label, an LLC is the right base. You handle artists' contracts, royalties and releases, and the LLC separates any dispute from your personal assets. The state's filing charge is shown apart from our service fee on the order page, and the operating agreement is prepared with your LLC, so your bank can open the account.

• Insurance: ask an insurance agent about general liability and media liability for a label, plus coverage for equipment.
• Investors: they usually want a formed LLC, an operating agreement and clean books first, then a clear plan for how their money is used.
• Website and advertising: register the name and open the bank account before you spend on promotion.

A surety bond is not what you need. Insurance protects you from claims, while bonds guarantee performance in certain regulated trades.

Do I need an LLC and a tax ID if my items are not taxable in my state? I also need to register a business at an address in Georgia.
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

Yes, an LLC still makes sense even when your products are not taxable. Taxability is only about sales tax, while the LLC is about protecting your personal assets from product and customer claims, and about credibility. With investors in mind, a formal company is what they will want to see.

On the tax ID, you still need an EIN for banking and federal taxes, since that is separate from sales tax. A seller's permit may not be needed if everything you sell is exempt, but many suppliers and marketplaces still ask for one, so check with them. Health and beauty products can be taxable in other places, so check where you sell.

For the Georgia address, I cannot supply an office location. Register the business at the real place where you operate, or use a registered agent's address for state papers. A local business license depends on that location.

I live in New York and want to start a mobile petting zoo. I also want to sell gift baskets by taking the order and having a company ship it. What do I need, and can I charge sales tax?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

A mobile petting zoo carries real risk, since children and animals mix and a bite or a fall could lead to a claim. An LLC is the proper vehicle, because it separates that exposure from your personal assets, and it can bring in investors. A foreign owner is fine for an LLC.

• Petting zoo: animal exhibits are regulated, so expect animal health paperwork, permits for events, and liability insurance that venues will ask for.
• Business license, locally, plus approvals for each event location.
• EIN, for banking and taxes.

For the gift baskets, to charge sales tax you need a seller's permit, which in New York is registered as a certificate of authority. Even if you never touch the product or the money, if you take the order and your company is the seller, you generally must be registered to collect tax. If the other company is the seller of record, it may handle that, so clarify who sells.

How long does it take to get a reseller's permit in New York with expedited service? I do not have a certificate of authority for my LLC. I also have questions about zoning for a home inspection business.
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

In New York, the sales tax registration is called a certificate of authority, and a reseller's permit is built on it, so you do need one for your LLC. We can file it with expedited handling, which moves faster than standard processing, but I cannot promise a specific number of days because timing depends on the application.

Home inspection is a service, so the permit matters mainly if you also sell products or tools that are taxable. Your LLC fits the business well: inspectors face claims when something is missed, and the LLC separates those from your personal assets.

• Zoning: a home office is usually allowed, but you do not need a vote from the town council in most cases. Ask locally whether a home occupation approval applies.
• Professional license: home inspectors are licensed in many places, so confirm before you take clients.

File the certificate of authority well before your first sale, since New York asks that you register in advance.

What license do I need to buy seafood in Louisiana, transport it to Tennessee and sell it to restaurants and the public, and do I need a wholesale license?
10/14/2026 5:04 AM

Form an LLC before anything else. Moving fresh shrimp and other seafood across state lines involves spoilage, illness and vehicle risks, and the LLC protects your personal assets while showing restaurants that they are dealing with an established company. A foreign owner can hold an LLC, too.

• EIN, for the account, payroll and supplier accounts.
• Seller's permit: it works as your wholesale and resale registration, so you can buy without tax and sell with tax. You may need one wherever you sell.
• Seafood dealer permit: seafood is regulated at each step, including buying, cold storage and delivery, so ask where your product is sourced and sold.
• Business license, locally.

Whether you open a fish market or a restaurant, each needs its own food permits and inspections.
